Week 2

Having a spirit of gratitude is good for us (mind body and spirit). It makes us feel good and it helps us focus on the blessings that we do have while focusing less on what we do not have.

Reasons for Giving Thanks

There is always a reason for us to give thanks.

5.  A roof over my head. I am thankful to have a place to lay my head. I am thankful for clean running water and heat to keep warm. The house I live in is a special gift because my family does not have to pay rent or a mortgage. My house is small, but it is enough; I won’t complain. My husband’s grandfather left a legacy for his children. I am very thankful for what my husband’s grandfather did for his family. I do not take anything for granted. Even though I did not know my husband’s grandfather, I have learned how important it is to build not only for today, but tomorrow.

4.  Food to eat. I grew up poor and there were times when the food would run low. I can remember my brother and I frying eggs or potatoes and that being all we had available to us. This didn’t happen too often, but the fact that food got low is something I will always remember. I am thankful that I do not have to worry about running low on food. These days the cost of food is soaring while the wages are not increasing, but we are still able to afford to buy what we need and some of what we want.

Stay tuned for the conclusion of this series on next week.

Until next time…

Give thanks with a grateful heart.
