Kymberly from Fun and Fit tagged yours truly.  Oh, how I enjoy tags, so let’s have some Friday fun.

11 Random Things About Me

  1. I cannot miss an episode of Spartacus.
  2. I so love watching Chopped and Iron Chef America on the Food Network.  Sometimes, I imagine myself competing in Chopped, winning the big 10 grand (yeah right).
  3. I love creating new veg dishes.
  4. I enjoy uploading videos to You Tube, even though I’m now missing in action.  Hey, everyone needs a break.
  5. I like walking outside and breathing the fresh country air.
  6. I pop my knuckles, been doing it since I was a youngster.  Since I’ve grown up, I don’t do the knuckle popping that much.
  7. I pick my lips, even when there’s nothing to pick, when I’m under pressure.  I know horrible isn’t it?
  8. My dosha is pitta.  I’m a very warm person, inside as well as outside.
  9. I cannot stick to a fitness plan to save my life.  It’s come down to the hubby writing an exercise plan for me.  I tend to stick to plans when I have the plan written down on paper.
  10. I don’t wear much make-up.  I only wear eyeliner and lip stuff.  When I want my eyes to pop, I wear a little eyeshadow and mascara.
  11. I enjoy gardening and can’t wait to get things going for 2012.

My Answers to the 11 Questions, asked by Kymberly:

  3. On a 1-10 scale, 1 = totally a couch potato who never moves; 10 = ready for the Olympics, where do you rate your current fitness level? 5 – Yeah, I know that’s bad, but I’m a work in progress.  I start and then I stop.  This is the year for consistency.  I want a nice toned body and I see it, so guess what, I’m doing it.
  4. What annoys you most: bad grammar, bad punctuation, bad photos/images?  Bad grammar.  I’m no expert, but bad grammar irks me.
  5. What is the wackiest or lamest excuse you have ever used to get out of a workout? I’ll do it tomorrow and tomorrow never comes.
  6. What is the lamest or most outlandish excuse you have ever used to get out of a social event? I don’t think I have ever used an excuse.  If I don’t want to attend the event, I just don’t, no excuses here.
  7. What is your preferred workout place – home, club, outdoors, in your dreams? Other? Home, but I also like being outside.
  8. Favorite book that was turned into a movie? I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou

    Hi Evelyn,
thanks for including me here. I totally intended on participating and feel bad I didn’t comment at the time. With dad being sick and back and forth from the hospital and rehab I totally blew this 🙁

    Have a blessed week!

  2. Bryan Thompson says:

Thanks Evelyn! Appreciate the tag! I’ll have to give it some thought. 🙂 I wish I liked vegetables more. Ha ha. Can I be honest? I can’t stand beans! Seriously. I’d make a really bad vegan, wouldn’t I? 🙂

    • Hey Bryan!

I can’t believe you don’t like beans. They are good for the heart and I’m sure you can fill in the rest. 🙂

Thanks for accepting the tag and I look forward to reading your post.

      Take care,

I had this issue before, I thought it was fixed but guess not. I have
to think about these tags and answers soon.

    • Hey Preeti,

I’m glad you stopped by. I’ll check on that from my end and see what’s going on with that.

Your comment went to spam and I don’t know why??

I look forward to reading your post.

      Take care,

  5. Hi Evelyn: Not only did I learn more about you, but also FROM you re: YouTube partner aspects. Thanks and FUN! Love how your tagees are so enthusiastic too!

  6. Michelle says:

Hey there- I am sure I have a long list of answers for these so I’m going to work in it for Monday’s post 🙂

I’m with you the bad grammar thing. I struggle with my husband ALL the time. It’s such a turn off sometimes. I’m not saying I speak 100 percent perfectly but I just can’t stand when people say things like. “She got..” It’s She HAS!!!

  7. Tatianna says:

    Evelyn I have a question 🙂

What do I do if I don’t know 11 people to tag?

  8. Tatianna says:

  10. Monique says:

I love reading tags! Thanks for tagging me.
    Your picture is beautiful 🙂
    Blueberries are my favorite fruit.
Come back over to Youtube…we miss you. 🙂

    • Hey Monique,

      Thank you so much!!

Blueberries are one of my favorites too.

I will, I can’t wait, because I really like making videos. I’m waiting until I get my new camera and some other things set.

You make some very good videos. Your camera quality and editing is nice. 🙂

      Take care,

      • Monique says:

Thanks! Who knew a $140 camera and natural lighting could make decent videos. LOL

      • $140??? I can’t believe that! What kind of camera are you using? (just curious)

      • Monique says:

lol No one ever believes me….Sony Cyber-Shot DSC. It was on sale and I purchased the display, so I only paid $140 (typically priced at about $180). I don’t have any special lighting, so I only record & take pictures on sunny days.

Did it take you a long time to become a Youtube partner?

      • Okay…you have some good lighting. That’s what I have to do too (with the lighting). I use to have a Flip and it died on me. I now have a Kodak, which was probably around the same price range as yours. I want to upgrade to a Canon/Sony. I can still make videos, just not in the quality that I would like. Plus right now the internet connection I have is very slow when it comes to video viewing and uploading. I see it as a good time for to take a break and focus on writing.

I became a You Tube partner in 2011 and I started the channel in 2009. Long time?? Well, this isn’t my first channel. I had a channel that was very popular focusing on natural hair, but I deleted the account. My current channel was created, while I had the natural hair channel, just to share about veg stuff. After closing my first account I focused more on uploading videos the current account. I had no intentions of becoming a partner, when I started the channel.

The first time I applied I got rejected. But the key is to have at least 150,000 upload views of your videos. Lisa at 2Createawebsite.com, has a lot of good You Tube tips about becoming YT partner. When I applied in 2010, I had 50,000 upload views. I worked hard to increase my video upload views to 150,000. I applied again in the summber of 2011 and was accepted.

The key is to make quality videos that will get you a high number of views. Gideon Shalwick has a good YT channel with some good tips on marketing your videos. I have both Lisa and Gideon listed on my channel. Your videos are very high quality, helpful, short and to the point. Keep cranking out those videos.

FYI – Don’t think that you have to subscribe to everyone who subscribes to you. I just checked my channel while typing this message and noticed that I’ve lost some subscribers. Oh, well, it’s no big deal. I’d rather have people subbed who are interested in the videos anyway. People subscribe and unsubscribe for many different reasons. Don’t let the subscriber number get to you, focus on making quality videos with helpful information and you will be fine.

        Sorry so long…

      • Monique says:

Thank you soooo much! I watch LIsa’s videos and she’s awesome! I will have to check out those other Youtubers.
I really appreciate your feedback and thanks for the encouragement. 🙂

      • Yes, Lisa is awesome!

You’re welcome and have a great weekend!

      • Michelle says:

This is great advice Evelyn. I’m trying to increase my views too. I bought Gideon’s YT course. I’m still working my way through it. It’s very elementary so far though.

      • Thanks!

I probably need to get his course too. Gidoeon is good information in his You Tube videos too. I know he shares more in his course. It will definitely be on my list of things to do.

        Thanks for sharing!
