Nutiva Organic Hemp Shake Review
As a vegan/vegetarian are you often asked, “Where do you get your protein from?” If you are concerned about protein, then don’t worry, you can whip yourself up a tasty Nutiva Organic Hemp Shake.
Nutiva offers 3 flavors of hemp shakes (amazon acai, berry pomegranate, and chocolate). My favorite of the 3 is chocolate. Whenever I want a chocolate treat, I have a chocolate hemp shake. It reminds me of a Wendy’s frosty ( I don’t eat these today)
I love the chocolate hemp shake with fresh homemade almond milk and a frozen banana. It is smooth and creamy, just simply divine. The very first time I had this, I thought I was in heaven.
What is a Nutiva Organic Hemp Shake?
The Organic Hemp Shake is a delicious organic protein superfood drink mix. The chocolate flavored hemp shake has: organic hemp protein, superfood chocolate blend (organic Fair Trade Certified chocolate, organic ramon nuts, organic guar gum, inulin from chicory root, organic mesquite pods), organic Fair trade Certified evaporated cane juice, organic chocolate flavor.
Nutiva’s blend of hemp, ramon nuts and Peruvian mesquite pods is an organic superfood (52% raw) with Omega-3 essential fatty acids, seven grams of protein, all the essential amino acids and more than 48% of the RDI of fiber – plus inulin, a soluble fiber that promotes regularity.
What makes Nutiva Organic Hemp Special?
- Hemp protein is ideal. Hemp protein contains 66% edestin, more than any other plant. Edestin is a bioactive protein that’s easy to digest.
- No petroleum solvents. Most non-organic soy proteins are processed with hexane, a harsh solvent similar to gasoline.
- Non-GMO: Many soy shakes are sweetened with fructose or maltodextrin from genetically modified, pesticide laden corn.
- Planet Friendly: Grown without pesticides
- Perfect meal replacement or snack: Have this shake anytime you like.
- Delicious and Nutritious: Packed with organic raw protein, phytonutrients, and fiber, and contains no trans fats, gluten, dairy, or lactose.
Chocolate Dream Recipe
2-4 tablespoons of Nutiva Hemp seeds
2-4 tablespoons of Hemp Shake
8 ounces of vanilla rice milk or any non-dairy milk of your choice
1-2 tablespoons of Nutiva Coconut Oil
1 ripe or frozen banana
Place seeds in a blender with 1 ounce of water, blend into a thick paste, and add remaining ingredients.
*Adding 4 tablespoons of Hemp seed provides an 11 gram protein boost.
I had my doubts about trying Nutiva’s Hemp Shakes, but once I gave them a try, I became hooked.
I suggest that you try the sample packets first because it will help you decide which flavor you like the best.

@Michelle,
Hi Michelle!
Thanks for stopping by and liking my page on facebook!
That’s cool! There is so much information and oftentimes it can be so overwhelming.
I’ve tried 2 other hemp protein powders and non compare to Nutiva. Be careful adding chia seeds to your smoothies..they will make it thicken up really fast, so don’t add too many unless you like thick smoothies.
I love hemp seeds! Added them to a green smoothie yesterday along with the regular Nutiva protein powder and a little hemp oil. It was quite tasty!
Thank you and I appreciate your adding me to your blogroll!
Take care!

I became a vegan in March and have been reading up on the raw diet. Brandy Kemp forwarded me your website to check out today. You have a lot of great information. I am going to add you to my blog roll on my blog. I’ve been seeing where a lot of people use the Nutiva Hemp protein. I’ve been thinking about trying it. I just purchased some hemp and chia seeds a week ago and have been adding them to my smoothies for the past week. I love making a green smoothie for my breakfast with the addition of these two seeds. It sure makes a difference in the way you feel. Now I think I need to add the hemp protein…..anyway…great site and info!
