Going Outside the Box Can Open Doors
You never know what’s on the other side of the internet unless you go and find out. You do this by visiting and commenting on other blogs.
I visit my favorite peeps almost everyday and drop in from time to time to leave a comment. Many times share their articles with others.
Today, I share three (3) amazing things that have happened, since I’ve ventured outside the box. Doors have opened for me in the most unexpected places, but I am ever so grateful.
1. WeBlogBetter
Kiesha, the owner of WeBlogBetter asked me if I would be interested in becoming a team writer for her blog. I said yes and the rest is history.
Kiesha and I have a little blogging history together. We met on mybloglog by way of blogger. We’ve been keeping up with each others happenings ever since.
I did my very first guest post on Highly Favored and Kiesha posted for me on Natural Raw Living.
I would have never met Kiesha, had I stayed in my own little box. I’m so happy I ventured outside the box.
2. Technshare
Dev, the owner of Technshare contacted me right after my first post on WeBlogBetter.
Devash, a young entrepreneur, asked me (an old head) to write for his multi-authored blog. You guys should check out Technshare. It is amazing to see teens getting their blog on and making money.
3. ReadingForYourSuccess
I found ReadingForYourSuccess by way of Kiesha posting a link to WriteToDone. There was an awesome guest article posted by Scott, owner of ReadingForYourSuccess. Scott wrote Become a Book Review Ninja: 10 Steps to Mastery.
I reviewed Becoming Raw and I followed Scott’s steps to the tee. I received (1) comment from a faithful and supportive reader, S. Ali Myers. A few days later, I received a compliment from a sales manager of the publishing company.
Here’s what was relayed to me by Mr. Rick Diamond, “He told me that he learned more about Becoming Raw from reading your review than he had learned from any other source.” Not only that guys, it gets even better. One of the authors, Brenda Davis, called the review “awesome.”
The three (3) amazing things that happened to me would have never happened had I stayed inside by cyberspace box.
It pays to get out there and visit other blogs. But you must also leave comments on other blogs. You never know what opportunities await you.
What are some ways you go outside the box and what success have you had?
Keep blogging and keep building community!

Evelyn,
I am so happy for you with everything that comes your way. I agree that you should get out of your box if that is your calling. Some are content in their space and that is okay too. I reside outside the box though(o:

Hey Ali,
Thank you!
Getting outside the box can lead to so much from both a developmental and networking standpoint. We are often pleasantly surprised by what we find when we leave our comfort zones.

Hi Jimi,
Your words are so true!
Good to see you and thanks for stopping by!
Now I have 3 more to visit after landing on yours, Evelyn.
Nice share and can’t agree with you more — I get to find out so many updated news and interests from the blogs I regular visit, and ‘meeting’ new ones on posts like yours. I must say the little green froggie makes it all sweet and loveable. Appreciate the info.
