All I have to do is take a look at Hannah and some how my life stresses gently fade away.

John founder and creator of BloggerLuv encouraged the members to write a post about anything to do with stress.  Actually how we deal with stress. Well, here it is.

First of all, what is stress?

Stress

Researchers define stress as the physical, mental and emotional response to events that causes bodily or mental tension.  Stress is any outside force that wreaks havoc on your mind, body and spirit.

Stress is the major cause and reason why people getting sick.  Stress is actually something that can kill you quicker than anything.

Ways I deal with stress

  • Remain calm. Yeap, it is very hard to do, but I’ve been told that I am so cool (when I should be pulling out my hair) and at ease.  You just don’t know.
  • Listen to music. Music calms you.  You will be surprised how soothing it can be.
  • Sing. I sing my little butt off, and then I feel so much better.
  • Look at my daughter.  My daughter could have not made it here.  When I look at her and see her beautiful smiling face, my fears and worries about her life fades away.
  • Exercise. Takes your mind off the issues and focuses them on sculpting that beautiful body temple.
  • Read. Avid book reader here and I can get lost in books.  Helps me forget my problems.
  • Call someone.  Sometimes  I will call someone just to chat.  Chatting with someone can really lift your spirits.
  • Enjoy nature. Having the pleasure of living in the country wood, sticks, I get eyeful of nature.  Stepping outside and taking a walk, breathing the fresh country air, calms me.  It tends to calm my stress making things quiet and still within me.
  • Gardening.  Love, love gardening.  Stress reliever as well as good exercise.
  • Get away from it all. Take a trip.  Recently my family and I visited my god-sister in Miami.  I returned home refreshed, revived and invigorated.
  • Visit a friend.  Visiting a friend that you haven’t seen in a while can work wonders.  Try it sometime, it really works

It’s your turn.   Tell us how you handle stress.

Your health is your wealth!

Just maintain your poise and never go out shouting nor making any violent actions towards your fellow men nor in things. Breath in and out or basically do whatever you want in a calm way. You don’t have to excruciate things in order for you to release your stress. Doing breathing exercise is enough to let go of your feelings.

  5. This is a good list, Evelyn. Hannah is adorable!

I’m glad that you pointed out how deadly stress really is. I know first hand, as I was in trouble with the police.

No I wasn’t on the lam, I was on the job LOL. As a civilian fingerprint technician for 17 years, I not only had to deal with the ugliness of life in the big city (Philly), I also had to deal with horrible supervisors. It really was a thankless task that would have killed or crippled me if I had not walked away from it all.

Of course, being self-employed brings its own stress, but that’s the good stress (eustress). I have never regretted leaving.

I have to work on my health. Perhaps, between your blog and Moondancer’s, I’ll find enough tips to get more healthy!

    Cheers,

    Mitch

      Hi Mitch,
      Thank you! :)

I can relate when it comes to being on a job that brings with it a lot of stress. I left my job 3 1/2 years ago and it was the best thing I could have ever done. What a relief!!

I found your blog at Pen and Prosper! I have a child with severe special needs so stress and I are close friends :-) I find one of the simplest and most effective ways of daling with stress is deep and relaxed breathing. When I feel the tension rising, I stop and take ten breaths and my stress decreases very quickly. I also like writing letters as a stress reliever!

      Hi Julie,
Thanks for stopping by! I can relate when it comes to being stressed and having a child who has some challenges.
Deep breathing is good, but most of us don’t do deep breathing that much. It does wonders for the body.

      Take care!

    Evelyn,

Your daughter is gorgeous from the inside out!

I am fortunate to be a relatively stress-free person. I’ve always dealt with stress well. I recommend yoga, tai chi or meditation for people that are extremely stress-filled. Good way to help balance you out.

Great list. A walk around the block clears my mind along with some good music playing on my iPod. Favorite calm down song: “Speed of Sound” by Coldplay.

My never-fail way to deal with stress is to get outside and either walk or garden. I always regain my perspective when I’m out in nature. Now if I would just remember to get out there more when I’m in the midst of stress!
