5 Ways You Can Wake Up Your Facebook Page
These days it seems like everybody and their mama has a facebook account.
If you have a blog and a facebook account, you should consider creating a facebook page for your blog/website/services/product/business.
It can help you build your brand and connect with many people outside your friend circle.
I’m new to facebook pages and I am working diligently on getting people who like the page to engage with me.
It is slow going, but I will not give up. Almost everyday, I have at least 2-4 people who engage with me in some sort of way.
I value the likes and the quick thank yous that my fellow page members give.
I’ve been looking for ways to improve my page, but the most important thing is the engagement.
Here are some ways that you can have more engagement on your page.
#1 Post pictures
Pictures are worth a thousand words. Page members are quick to like photos and also comment on them. Put up some photos and see what happens.
#2 Write real messages on your wall
Often times, I will visit a page that I like and all I see are blog posts. That gets boring very fast. Take the time to write your own personal messages.
It is okay for you share your blog posts, but you should also share beneficial and helpful information that the members will find useful.
#3 Reward your members
Find brilliant and creative ways ways to acknowledge those who engage the most.
Social @Blogging Tracer acknowledges the member of the month. This is a good way to get your members to be more active.
#4 Have contest and giveaways
If you want to get people stirred up, tell them they can win something for free. You will be amazed by the number of people who come out of hiding.
#5 Create a welcome
Make this the first thing that your prospective page member sees. It is always good for you to greet your guest. They will remember you even more.
Conclusion
There are many ways that you can engage your page members. In the beginning it will seem like no one is paying attention to what you are sharing, but as time goes on, people will become more engaging.
Don’t give up and keep sharing.

UPDATE: I decided to delete my Facebook Page. These are still good tips for those who are trying to build engagement on Facebook. I observed that I have more engagement on Twitter than I did on my Facebook page. My blog, is listed on the Networked Blogs Listings and stay posted by following there if you like. I’ll stick with what works for me. Follow me on Twitter if you like.

Great tips Evelyn! So in essence the moral of the story is that people want authenticity in the fanpages they belong to as opposed to canned or automated mass marketing tactics. I agree. To me that’s exactly what separates FB from the pack is that ability to connect on such a genuine person to person level.
Take care!

Hi Benin,
Thanks for stopping by! You’re right. The automated marketing tactics won’t get it.
FB is definitely a place to connect on a genuine level and that’s what I want with a fan page. Well, at least when I start a new one, it will be geared toward being authentic and personable.
Thanks and take care!

I have a FB page and sometimes I engage but usually I don’t. It’s because I’m busy engaging my FB friends and family! I don’t know that I’ll ever get the time to really do a lot of engaging on FB; that time for me needs to be spent blogging. But it’s also because I choose to spend the time on Twitter, too. For people who really love FB, it’s worth getting engaged there. I do encourage people to use it to their benefit and the benefit of others if it is something they enjoy!

Hi Tia,
Yeah, I totally feel you on this.
If FB is something others enjoy, then that’s great. There is so much information out here on how to make a FB page awesome…it’s just time consuming for me.
I too enjoy engaging with my family and friends more so and I’m also spending more time on Twitter.
I’ve actually met more people in my niche on Twitter, since they’ve included a recommend follow section. I like that!
Thanks for sharing!
Take care!

LOL, How long did you have your page up? I can definitely see how Twitter is more engaging though and I use to be a Facebook fanatic. Most of my traffic initially came from Facebook but now it is coming from all kinds of different places.

Hey Wayne!
Well, I started the page sometime is April. I had 70 fans.
I can understand why your traffic initially came from Facebook, since you were a fanatic.
You’re moving and shaking around the net and I can see why you’re getting traffic from different places. Keep it up!
Take care!

Thank you, I’m trying my best. That’s all I can do.
It might have helped also that I had over 1000 friends on Facebook before I started blogging. I didn’t even have a Twitter account lol.

Great tips Evelyn!
I’m not that big on Facebook but am slowly starting to like it more. I much rather play on Twitter. To each their own. But, these are wonderful suggestions.
Thanks!

Hey Ali,
Thanks! You’ll never believe this, but I did away with my FB page. It was just too much extra stuff. And I had to question, is it really worth it? I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel. But I do believe these suggestions will be helpful to someone who is trying to build a FB page.
Take care!
