10 Killer Steps to a Better Blog: A Step by Step Guide to a Better Blog
Do you need some guidance in how to set-up your blog and make things happen? Well, A Step by Step Guide to a Better Blog, is for you.
The purpose of this review is to inform you about an awesome “how to” blog guide, written by Kiesha Easley. Kiesha takes you step by step from blog set-up to the next level. If you are new to blogging and need some guidance, A Step by Step Guide to a Better Blog (affiliate link) will get you where you need to be.
I have been blogging since 2008. But I didn’t get serious about blogging until sometime in 2009. How I wish, I could have had this book back then. I know I would be light years ahead of where I am today.
Even though I am not new to blogging, I have learned something new and have implemented the new things that I have learned. One thing I have started doing is getting my images from the sites that Kiesha recommends in her book. I can’t tell you how big a time saver this has been.
Here are 10 Killer Steps to a Better Blog
1. Selecting a niche. You must select the niche that you are passionate about. The author doesn’t give you a list of niches, rather, she tells you to choose what you are most passionate about.
2. Select a domain name. If you’re a serious blogger you should not use free blogging platforms. It is not the professional way to go.
3. Select a hosting company. Hosting is affordable so look around and see what others are saying and go from there. The blogging platform recommended is Word Press.
4. Select a theme. Choose a theme that will fit your needs and work well with your niche.
5. Install plug-ins. There are diagrams on how to install plug-ins, that you will find very helpful.
6. Set your pages. Decide what information you’d like to go on your pages. About Me/Company is just one example.
7. Plan your content. Produce quality content as much as you can. This will help boost your traffic and grow your blog.
8. Publish. The author provides diagrams and steps on how to publish your post using Word Press.
9. Generate traffic and build community. The author shares a list of ways that she generates traffic and builds community. This is a very impressive list. Ex. Submitting blog to search engines for free.
10. Blogging tools and resources. There is an extensive list from email marketing services, affiliate marketing, SEO tools, to site statistics and much, much more.
Bonus: The author throws in a bonus chapter, where she tells you how she has built an awesome writing team for the WeBlogBetter Blog. **This is only available in print and not the e-book.**
A Step by Step Guide to a Better Blog e-book is 40 pages and is an easy read. It is packed with many resources and tools, that will help you build a better blog. It is a great book for anyone new to blogging and learning the ropes.
If you take your blogging seriously and aspire to be successful, then A Step by Step Guide to a Better Blog is the book you cannot afford to pass by. Get it today!

Sounds like a good resource for a newbie, though I have to say this: everything can be found online for free. The added bonus for your hard work looking for it is that you get a wider perspective on things. There actually is no one single formula and IMO researching and learning are key.

Appreciate you sharing this review with us, Evelyn.
Same as Justin, I have yet quite settled with #4, will plan to work on Thesis although I’m quite interested in Headway too. I’m not a coder too but somehow I feel there’s something about Thesis that I cannot resist and need to get my hands on. If not, I can always outsource it to my developer.
Gotta have a backup plan.
All the best to Keisha. And you too Evelyn, continue to blog with passion.

I think you will like Thesis and if you already have a developer, then you should be fine. It is always great to have a back up plan. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Thank you and all the best to you too!

Kiesha is a fantastic blogger and one of the few who I would endorse as an affiliate. I myself am struggling with #4 as my blog has outgrown the theme I am using for DragonBlogger. I can no longer afford to stay with my artsy black background/white text as at this point I think it is hurting my professional appearance. Maybe switch to Thesis in my near future?

Hi Justin,
I’m glad you stopped by!
I agree, Kiesha is a fantastic blogger and I am glad to be a part of her affiliate program.
I just switched from Thesis to Headway. I’m glad I made that choice. I’m not a coder. (lol) I know you are good with coding, so Thesis, just might be right up your alley.
Take care,
Evelyn
Evelyn,
Although I know Keisha and her blog recently, I think she has a great site and many great contributors like you, Jean and more.
I think #9 is toughest, as to build a community and getting traffic to your site. Whoever said, blogging was easy, was lying! There is a lot of learning curve!

I wish I would have had this book when I started out too. This is a super-useful resource. I have the ebook so haven’t seen the bonus chapter yet, but anything Kiesha writes is top quality.
