Candida infection is a disease that can compromise one’s overall well-being in a number of different ways. It usually manifests through a wide range of seemingly unrelated signs – which is probably one of the reasons that make this condition so hard to diagnose. There are many possible symptoms of Candida infection, including the ones listed below:
- Abnormal fatigue
- Cravings for sugar
- Recurring vaginal yeast infections
- Frequent headaches
- Digestion related problems like bloating and diarrhea
- Skin rashes
- Unexplainable onset of allergies
Candida infection is a result of an imbalance between the good and bad bacteria present in the gut. One type of naturally occurring yeast called Candida albicans may grow out of control and its cells can then overwhelm the friendly bacteria and cause Candida infection.
Under what circumstances might that occur? We now know that people who have gone through an intense antibiotic therapy are much more likely to develop some type of intestinal imbalance – including Candida infection. Other possible causes of this condition include:
- Weakened immune system
- Birth control pills use
- Stress
- Diets high in sugar and processed foods
In order to get rid of Candida yeast infection, one has to restore a natural balance within the body. This can be achieved through probiotic supplementation, anti-fungal use, and a balanced diet.
- Probiotics – probiotics are the beneficial bacteria present in your digestive tract. They compete with Candida albicans for nutrients and promote our overall well-being. Available in certain foods and supplements.
- Antifungals – antifungal supplements make use of their natural properties that directly kill the excess yeast in the body. Both prescription and alternative solutions are available.
- Healthy diet – also known as the Candida diet, this unique eating plan is all about avoiding foods high in sugar and low on nutritive value – while replacing them with nutritious alternatives.
These are three main pillars of any sensible treatment regimen. However, if you feel like you could be suffering from Candida infection, make sure to talk to your doctor first and determine an appropriate approach.
