17 Beautifying Foods You Should Eat

Strong and Spicy

Do you believe that what you eat can make you beautiful?  I know you are probably thinking, “Yeah, right!”  But it is true!  When I was eating high raw vegan foods, my skin looked very nice.

I have ended the Daniel Fast.  I ended it after twenty-one days.  I will update you about the Daniel Fast in a later post.

Right now, I am preparing my mind to begin a high raw vegan diet.  My preparation involves revisiting books and preparing my mind.

I have eaten a vegan diet successfully since August 2010 and it is time for me to increase my raw food intake.

One of my favorite books is, Eating for Beauty, by David Wolfe and I reference it quite often.

Today I will share with you a list of beautifying foods that you should include in your diet.  These are not only foods that enhance your outer beauty, but your inner beauty too.

Beautifying foods you should include in your diet
(Eating for Beauty by David Wolfe)

1.  Aloe Vera

2.  Arugula

3.  Burdock Root

4.  Coconuts and Coconut Oil

5.  Cucumbers

6.  Durian

7.  Figs

8.  Hemp Seed (protein and oil)

9.  Macadamia Nuts

9.  Nettles

11,  Olives and Stone-Crushed Olive Oil

12.  Onions

13.  Papaya

14.  Pumpkin Seeds

15.  Radishes

16.  Turmeric

17.  Watercress

The beautifying foods all have one or more of the following:
(p. 73-74)

  • High concentrations of the minerals sulfur, silicon, zinc, iron and / or manganese.
  • An alkaline reaction in the body
  • Anti-parasitic effects
  • High levels of antioxidants (especially vitamins A, C and E)

The beautifying foods cultivate a renewed charm and charisma.  They add to one’s inner and outer beauty.  Mineral-rich, nutrient dense beauty foods are nature’s best cosmetics. (p. 74)

This is not, by any means, a complete list.  There are always new beautifying foods being discovered.

Include these foods in your diet.  It does not matter if you eat them cooked or uncooked.

Have you eaten any of these foods?

Great list and I will have to add many of these foods to my diet. I have heard of Durian fruit and like Papaya. I don’t think I have tried Arugula or Burdock Root yet.

Does Aloe come in a liquid? I saw some Aloe on the shelf at Trader Joe’s today.

I have never tried burdock root, but I have eaten arugula and I really like it. It has a peppery taste with a little bite. It reminds me of spinach only with a little kick.

Yes, aloe comes in a liquid. You can find it in liquid form, gel, or even just get it straight from the plant.

  4. Hey Adam,

You can find aloe vera that doesn’t have a taste or smell. It will say on the bottle that it is tasteless, I can’t recall the brand, but aloe like that does exist.

    Take care,

  6. It’s nice to know that 2 of my favorite foods, papaya and cucumber are in your list of beautifying foods. How do I eat aloe vera leaves? Is it cooked? Or the extract be mix with other foods. Please advise because I have lots of aloe vera in our garden.

    • Hi Anne,

You can probably get the gel from the aloe plant and mix it in a beverage of your choice. I know that Aloe vera juice can be purchased at health food stores and the juice is good for digestion.

I’m not sure about the cooking of the leaves. That’s something you may want to google.

Thanks for stopping by and welcome to my blog.

This is a good list, i would definitely add raw spinach to it, alongside various greens. You can just chop a few leaves and add them to your daily salads, they are highly nutritious!

What a great list of foods! I definitely think that hemp seed should be #1, but I’m glad it’s at least in the top ten. All of the other foods are integral to a healthy diet as well, and I’m glad this list also includes the reasons why they are so good. It’s always good to know why something is helping you.

nice list, contains a lot of foods that i take regularly. But on my list, the number one position will be held by water. The more water you drink (lets say 8 glasses a day) the better your skin gets.

also, you mentioned coconut and coconut oil, how about coconut water, it helps too. and among other things avocado and nuts are also good as they have that omega 3 fatty acids which is good for skin.

    • Hi Uttoran,

      Thanks!

These foods are not the only ones that we should include in our diet. Water by far is very important. It keeps us hydrated, the skin looking nice and keeps things moving.

Yes, coconut water helps too. When I say coconut, I mean the whole coconut. Water and coconut meat included. The water is so good, packed with a lot of good stuff.

You are so right…avocados and nuts are good sources of Omega 3s. This is a list of foods we should include…it doesn’t discount all the other nutritious foods out here. Thank you for sharing! :)

      Take care,

      Evelyn

    Hi Evelyn,
Thanks for this list. These aren’t foods I eat alot of but I will certainely start. Ever since I’ve been juicing my skin is so much more clearer, my fingernails are stronger, and my hair has been growing faster. Who knew, the best beauty aids are certain foods? I love it!
    Dandy recently posted..Boundary LessonsMy Profile

    • Hi Dandy,

Juicing is very good too. These foods are just a list that David Wolfe includes in his book. They are not the only foods that will aid in beautification by a long shot.

I’m glad that juicing is working for you. I read a great article today about how juicing greens has helped a lady’s hair grow a little faster. I think I posted on the Facebook page. It is quite interesting. Just the inspiration I need to stay disciplined, because I have a hard time juicing regularly. I have no problems making a green smoothie, but juicing is another story.

      Have a great day! ;)
