Don’t Ever Give Up Before You Try

Don’t Ever Give Up Before You Try

little-boy-laptopThere are people who are trying to lose weight, change their diets, get fit or simply try something new. I am one of those persons, trying something new and one part of me wants to give up before I give the new challenge a try, but I cannot do that, because if I do not try, how will I ever know if I can succeed with the new challenge.

There are many reasons why you might think you cannot do something. When you think you cannot reach your goals, you might not try. Trying something new never hurt anyone. Don’t ever say that you cannot do something, if you have not given it a fair try.

So, you want to give up before get out of the gate. Winners never quit, so why quit before you begin.  If you need a pep talk, give yourself a pep talk. Remember the best pep talk comes from you, because you know you better than anyone. Need a little pep talk, here it is:

1. You must try.

2. If it is too hard for you, try it another way, until it feels right for you.

3. You will grow and learn through this experience.

4. You will learn lessons that will stay with you for a long time.

5. Any goal worth striving for takes planning, hard work and dedication.

6. You can do anything, just give it a try;  do your best.

7.  You can do this.

Final Thoughts

I begin homeschooling my daughter very soon. Even though I am nervous and have some fear, I will not let the nervousness and the fear stop me.

People have given me their opinions about what they think I should do and some don’t agree with what I am doing, but that’s life.

This is a challenge, something I have never done, sure I have taught on all levels, but I have never taught a child who learns differently.  I am up for the challenge.

If I listen to the naysayers and never try, how will I know if I can succeed.  I will not give up because of the opinion’s of others and neither should you.

You should always do what you know is best, no matter what people say or do.

If had listened to the naysayers, I would have never graduated from college and I would still be overweight and unhealthy. Whatever you want to do, do it!  Don’t give up before you try. You never know where it will take you.

Stay on your path, just because someone is going one way, doesn’t mean the road you are travelling is the wrong road. Always do what you know is the best for you. If you don’t do what’s best for you, then who will?

How does one eat an elephant…one bite at a time! I love this post Evelyn!

People including my family said that I could not not do stuff like go in the Army, buy a house as a single black woman, get totally out of debt, etc. Not only that they said, if I did try to to those things that I would fail. Sometimes I did want to give up but I kept plodding on and here I am from so called Mission Impossible transformed into Mission Accomplished. Thanks many times over for the reminder to not give up as I settle on new challenges.

“Thumbs up” and “go head on girl” from me regarding the choice to take your child’s education in your hands!! Big ups and I know if anyone can do it, it is YOU!

    Peace, Love & Blessings

    • Msfullroller!

You are a true inspiration. When I grow up, I want to be like you. 🙂

It is amazing how people tell us we cannot do something and we forge ahead and do it. I don’t recall anyone telling me that I couldn’t do a certain thing, but I definitely didn’t have much support.

It shows those naysayers, that anything is possible. It’s not easy at all, but oh how sweet it is, to reach the goal. The naysayers can’t say anything. I know you remember this from the Last Dragon movie, “Who’s the Master, Sho Nuff.” We are the Master’s of our fate and the good thing is that we can do whatever we want to do, Sho Nuff.” 🙂

      Thanks for your support!

      Have a great week!

  3. Well now, I can easily get behind this one. Of course, one has to “want” it bad enough to decide to try it and not doing so because of fear just isn’t a good enough reason. That is, unless your goal is to walk on a tightrope across the Grand Canyon; even I’d try talking you out of that one. lol

    • Hey Mitch!

You’re right about one wanting it bad enough to decide to try. Fear isn’t a good reason, now I wouldn’t even try walking a tightrope at all, let alone across the Grand Canyon.

Good to see you and thanks for chiming in.

  4. Hi Evelyn: Why did you decide to home school your daughter?

    • Hey Kymberly!

It is something that has always been in the works, before I had a child. Plus, I believe that she will do better with one-on-one attention, which I don’t believe is possible in a public setting.

Another reason is that our school system in the county that I live in is not very good. If I were living in my home state and county, I would probably consider putting her in that school system, because I know it is much better than where I am. I want to make sure she learns the basics and have a strong foundation. After that then we may consider putting her in a private school.

      Take care,

Thanks for the pep talk 🙂 I really needed it right now! I too am starting on a new path with educating my children. We are going to try online school for my daughter while my son will attend regular school. If I love the online school then I will move my son in that direction, but I have to admit that I am feeling very overwhelmed with EVERYTHING right now. Thanks for the words of wisdom 🙂

When we are kids, we’re continually doing new “stuff”. If we’re not learning in school, we’re making new friends or learning how to play a sport, learn a musical instrument, etc…

I’m not sure when it happens, but at some point, most of us stop trying new things. It’s easier to just keep doing the same things over and over and over.

Luckily, not all of us are like that

Thomas Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. When a reporter asked, “How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?” Edison replied, “I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.”

    • Hey Doug!

You are so right about trying new “stuff” when we are kids. Kids don’t think about trying new stuff, they just do it.

Love what you share about Thomas Edison. If that isn’t inspiration, then I don’t know what is.

Thanks for chiming in and sharing!!

You’re so so wise! When I was a teenager I had the same problems! I had a friend who always told me we were unable to do thing…and then I felt myself unable and at last I was unable. Nothing is impossible and everything depends on your determination!
