Today, we continue with part 2 of “Why I Can’t Lose Weight.” If you missed part 1, you can read it here.
Reasons Why You Can’t Lose Weight
It’s All You Think About
You wake up thinking about your weight and you go to sleep thinking about your weight. Somewhere between waking and sleeping you think about your weight.
Focusing on your weight all the time will not help you lose weight. There comes a time when you need to stop thinking about your weight; relax into the unknown.
Relaxing into the unknown is embracing what is; it helps you not worry about how much you weigh. Thinking about your weight will not help you lose the weight any faster. It can cause an increase in your stress level.
You Are Getting Enough Sleep
Sleeping is the time when the body repairs, rebuilds and regulates. When you are not giving your body time to do what it does, weight loss is a slow go.
Make it a priority to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. A good rest helps you feel energized and ready for the next day. Your body is ready for fat-burning and calorie-burning and will probably do it more efficiently when properly rested.
However, if you do not get the proper amount of sleep, your body drags and everything else drags along with you.
Get sleep because your body needs it.
You Are Stressed
You cannot avoid stress and being under stress for a long time weighs on the body. Chemicals get released when the body is under stress, but those chemicals are only meant to stay in the body for a short time.
Longer periods of stress causes the stress chemicals to stick around longer which results in things going awry in the body. Examples, elevated cortisol, increased inflammation, inability to lose weight, fatigue and a decrease in digestion activities.
Stress is serious; try your best to do things that help you deal with stress as well as help you decrease your stress levels.
Slow down in life; it helps with stress.
You Want to Lose Weight for the Wrong Reasons
Society says that being thin is what’s in, so you do your best to fit the standards. You believe that you will be happier when you lose weight. You believe you will feel better about your life when you lose the weight.
You believe that things will work in your favor when you lose the weight. You want to lose weight so you are happier with yourself and with your life.
Well, these are good reasons, but why must you wait until you lose the weight for happiness. Why can’t you be happy now, feel better now or believe that things are working in your favor now?
When you start accepting yourself as you are (now), that’s when you will see a shift in your weight. Be happy within, now!
There are many reasons why people have a hard time losing weight. My goal with this series is for you to begin thinking about your weight in a different way.
I want you to think about how all areas of your life impact your weight. Each of us has a story and there lies the answers to the reasons why we have eating concerns, specifically with weight loss
You are more than what you weigh, you are a person with dreams, goals, desires, gifts, talents and purpose.
Your weight does not define you; you define your weight.
Until next time….
