Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Facial Wash and Scrub Review

March 20, 2014 by Evelyn Parham

shea-moisture-facial-wash-scrubWhile strolling down the personal care aisle in Target, I spotted the Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Facial Wash and Scrub on clearance and bought it.

I rushed home and tried the facial wash and scrub. I was very impressed with this product the first time I tried it, so much so that I had to write a review.

Taking care of your skin is a part of taking care of yourself. No product can make your skin by itself healthy and radiant.

I believe that what you put in your body shines through to the outside which makes a difference in the appearance of your skin.

Good quality skin care products can assist in helping your skin feel and look its best.

You should try the Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Facial Wash and Scrub if:

  • you are looking for a gentle facial wash
  • you are looking for a gentle facial scrub
  • you want to use a shea butter based product
  • you want to use a product that is cruelty free
  • you want to use a product that has certified organic ingredients.

About the Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Facial Wash and Scrub (with Frankincense and Myrrh)

Cost:  $9.99 – 4 fluid ounces

The Raw Shea Butter Facial Wash and Scrub has a unique scent. I like it, but it is not the typical smell for a facial wash and scrub.

The facial wash and scrub is creamy and has little red beads present. The red beads are jojoba beads which aid in removing dead skin cells.

What Shea Moisture Says:

Smooth away rough, dry skin with this gentle, healing scrub enriched with moisturizing organic raw shea butter. Jojoba beads efficiently remove dead skin cells, improve microcirculation, lessen the appearance of fine lines and prepare skin for moisture. Cleansed skin is soft, radiant and hydrated.

Directions

Apply 2 to 3 times a week onto dry or damp skin, avoiding the eye area. Massage gently in circular movements, then rinse. Pat skin dry and apply moisturizer.

Key Ingredients

Shea Butter: Deeply moisturizes and repairs skin with vitamins and essential fatty acids.

Frankincense and Myrrh: Given as a gift of beauty throughout history, these extracts, repair and rejuvenate skin.

My Thoughts (Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Facial Wash and Scrub)

Cost: The cost of this product is a little steep for the amount of product you get. However, since this product works well on my skin, I would probably buy it even when it is not on sale.

Smell: The smell of this product is okay, but not my favorite. It has a manly scent and smells like the hair care products they also make.  I tolerate the scent of this facial wash because the product gets rinsed off and hardly any of the residual scent remains behind.

Performance: The facial wash and scrub does an excellent job. I can get past the smell, because it performs very well. Application is easy and due to its creamy consistency it goes on very smooth. The jojoba beads do not feel scratchy like other scrubs, but does an excellent job exfoliating the skin.

Side-note:  I did not think the jojoba beads would do anything because I could barely feel the beads on my skin, but it works.

I have applied the facial wash and scrub on both dry and damp skin. I prefer applying the product on dry skin because the product feels wet and spreads easily and I do not feel I need extra water for application.

This product leaves my skin feeling very soft, supple and smooth. The cleansing part of the product does not leave my skin feeling dry.

I have not noticed the facial wash and scrub lessening the appearance of fine lines. I think I need to use it longer to determine if it truly does lessen the appearance of fine lines.

Conclusion

The Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Facial Wash and Scrub with Frankincense and Myrrh is an excellent product. I will definitely buy it again and I encourage you to try it.

I bought this product with my money and I was not paid to write this post.  I am not affiliated with Shea Moisture and I am only a satisfied customer sharing my thoughts.

      Hi Erin,

I’m not a fan of scrubs only, because some are too rough and harsh for my skin. However, if the scrub is creamy and has cleansing agents, then my skin does fine.

      Thanks for sharing!

I love skincare products! Reviewing them, testing them, smelling them … you get the point! My skin is very fair and sensitive so I only use the very best and natural products.

I have not tried this one, but I will pick it up next time I see it. Also everyone – the BEST thing for your skin is a healthy diet and drinking LOADS of water.

    Thanks for the review Evelyn!
