Out with the Old, In with the New

April 4, 2025 by Evelyn Parham 4 Comments

My last blog post was in January; I won’t stay away for that long anymore. I should challenge myself to post daily. What say you? Thank you for staying connected with my blog. I am glad you are here.

Wellness Journey

I started my wellness journey in March. I veered off my path the second week into my weight loss challenge. Although I drifted away from my plans, I restarted in April. Check out the videos below:

I got back on track on March 26th, 2025, and here’s what has happened since then:

-My weight has dropped 3 pounds
-I am sleeping well (still need to stop the late nights)
-My clothes fit better around the waist
-I feel better about myself
-I am happier
I will share more within a few weeks.

New Haircut

I went to ULTA for a haircut on March 29, 2025. I was trying to grow my hair long, but it started breaking. The only way to eliminate hair breakage is to cut it off, and that is what I did.

Getting a haircut was what I needed in more ways than one. I had started disliking what I saw in the mirror because I am over 50. I felt old and ugly, but my feelings about myself faded after my haircut. Letting go makes way for growth and new beginnings.

Feel Better

I told my YouTube subscribers I did not feel good about myself, and a friend suggested I try new makeup. I took my friend’s advice and purchased a new mascara and lipstick (affiliate links). Since buying the cosmetics, I have bought other items that have uplifted my spirit and improved my self-image.

The haircut and new makeup helped me get out of the rut. I also bought a new skincare serum (affiliate link). It is an excellent product because my skin loves it, and people compliment me.

Whenever you feel down about yourself, buy that lipstick you have been wanting or try a new skincare product that piques your curiosity. I did, and I feel better.

That is all for now. Until next time, have a wonderful weekend!!

Thank you Evelyn for your honesty and the willingness to start again. I enjoy you sharing Proverbs verse as well.
I am struggling with consistently adhering to a healthy overall lifestyle. I found that when my prayer, reading scripture, and applying is off, I get off balanced. Daily learning to simplify and doing something for someone outside my home i.e.,checking in with card or text helps me get re-grounded.
Kudos for the inspiration and checking in. Blessings!

      Hi Ms. Van!

Thanks for chiming in! I am learning that I have to have the right mindset and be ready for change. If I am not ready, I tend to mess up, but it’s good that we know what gets us off our game so we can regroup and get it together. The most important thing is to get back up and keep moving—never stop. Eventually, you arrive at your destination. It may take time, but you arrive nonetheless.
I appreciate you sharing how you re-ground yourself.

      Have a wonderful week!!
