Daylight Saving Time began on, March 11, 2018, which means that we had to move our clocks forward one hour.
I hate moving my clock up one hour for many reasons, but one reason I despise it is that I can never get enough sleep.
By the time I adjust to the time change, it is time for it to end. What a bummer!
Are you tired? I am. Today, I’ll share tips on what you can do to regain your energy during Daylight Saving Time.
Tired and You Can’t Help It
Do you get tired when we have to move our clocks forward an hour? It’s a time when you probably are so tired that you nod off, yawn a lot, lose your focus, and have low energy.
What can you do to regain your energy back that Daylight Saving Time has stolen from you?
Regain Your Energy
Don’t let losing an hour steal your energy. Take charge of the time and don’t let the time take charge of you.
You can do this by realizing that you are in control. Just because someone told us to move our clocks forward does not mean that we must give up our power too.
Take back what belongs to you.
Here’s how you do it:
- Rise and shine at your usual time. Don’t let the clock fool you into going to bed later because if you do, then you will be sleepy the next day.
- Take time to breathe deep. Take 2-3 minutes to do some deep breathing and focus on nothing but that. Breathing deep helps calm your mind, body, and your spirit.
- Eat a balanced diet. Focus on making sure you are eating protein and healthy fat, along with nutritious carbohydrates. Decrease your consumption of junk and increase your lean protein, fresh vegetables, and other whole foods.
- Move your body. Movement/exercise is excellent for your body, and it is especially beneficial for helping you sleep better. Daily walks help lower your stress hormones, so start walking.
- Turn off technology. Set a time to log off of your computer, smartphone, turn off the T.V. and other devices. Try to aim to shut off these devices 45 minutes to an hour before you retire for the evening. Technology has a way of keeping our minds busy, which makes it hard for us go to sleep.
- Stay positive. No matter how much you dislike Daylight Savings Time, stay positive. Make the changes you need to adjust and carry those changes with you throughout the year. Eventually, the changes you make will stick and become a way of life.
You Got This
The time is now for you to regain your energy. Everything you need this lies within you. You have to do it. I know it is easier said than done, but I know you can do it because you got this.
Question: What will you start doing today to regain your energy during Daylight Saving Time?

One of the things that I have started doing is – on the night of the time change, I go to bed a lot earlier. I have done this for quite a few years now. It seems to help get me ready for the move ahead. I love falling back during the fall , but the springing forward – not so much. Thanks for the great tips!
