Women’s Health Month: 10 Steps to Live a Healthy Life

May is Women’s Health Month, a time for acknowledging women’s health and educating women on taking care of their own health.

There are many ways that women can live healthy, but I will share with you ten steps that women can take to live a healthy life.

Steps to Live a Healthy Life (Mind, Body, Spirit)

#1. Feed your body nutrient dense and wholesome foods most of the time. What you put in your body shows up internally as well as externally. Make wise food choices.

#2.  Prepare most of your meals at home when you can. It’s not only a good practice, but healthier too because you know exactly what is in the food you are eating.

#3.  Find movement/exercise you enjoy and do it as much as you can. Do not use the excuse that you cannot get to the gym, because you do not have to go to a gym to for exercise. Walking is something we all can do and you can do that in your neighborhood or on your lunch break. Start there.

#4.  Stay hydrated by drinking lots of water. If you like tea, try herbal teas they are good sources of antioxidants and other good nutrients.

#5.  Get regular health check-ups and listen to your body.  Do self-exams of your breast regularly.  Regular check-ups let you know the state of health you are in and can save your life.

#6.  Take supplements (i.e., multi-vitamin, essential fatty acids, probiotic) to make sure that you are getting what you need in your diet. Do not over do it with supplements; keep it simple.

#7.  Focus on the positive and let go of toxic thoughts, people, places and things. Holding on to negativity and toxicity can make you sick, so let it go.

#8.  Pray or meditate. Whatever you are comfortable with doing, do it. There are health benefits in praying or meditating.

#9.  Learn to manage the stress in your life. Stress in life is inevitable, but having de-stressing techniques can really help you control stress level.

#10. Take time for self-care. Pamper yourself with a full-body massage or a warm soothing Epsom Salt bath. Whatever you do, take care of yourself and never think that you are being selfish for doing so because it is one way that you stay connected to your body wisdom.

Women, let’s honor ourselves by taking our health in our own hands. Your body will love you for it.
