It is the season to express gratitude and give thanks. I really want to make it a practice to express gratitude everyday and not just during a time when it is a common thing to do.
Continuing where I left off last week. If you don’t know what this series is about, check out the post from last week.
I urge you jot down your reasons for giving thanks. It is truly a humbling experience, because when we take the time to do this, we see just how blessed we really are.
Today I share two more reasons for giving thanks.
Reasons for Giving Thanks
7. I am thankful for books. Yes, books! If I did not have books, I do not know what I would do. I recall when I was a child how I loved books. I would read anything I could get my hands on. One of my ways of escaping was by reading books. No matter what I was going through, I could always read a book. Reading helped me forget what was happening around me.
The love of books stayed with me and I am thankful for that. As an adult, I can travel places without every leaving the comfort of my home. I can learn about any topic by reading a books. I am an old school type of person when it comes to books. I cannot get down with electronic books no matter how hard I try.
It is something about having an actual book in hand and I am more likely to read a printed book than an electronic book. No matter how much technology advances in the world of books, I will always be that person carrying a book, instead of an electronic device to read a book.
6. I am thankful for being open-minded about diet, weight and body image. There was a time when I was not open-minded. I thought that everybody should eat a certain way and that way was the only way one could have successful weight loss and a great body image. I wanted to share my new findings with the world. I held toxic beliefs for a while, but I am thankful that I have released those toxic beliefs.
Being open-minded has helped me personally as well as professionally. I cannot help others when I have a closed mind. When I had a closed mind, I did not want to learn about other diets or anything that did not fit what I believed. Today I want to learn as much as I can, because knowledge is power. Opening my mind has really taught me to relax and embrace the uncertainty and beauty in everything and in everyone.
Always remember to express gratitude!
Until next time…
