Social Media (what I learned after being away for 30 days)

July 1, 2016 by Evelyn Parham

Social Media (what I learned being away for 30 days)My leave from social media has come to an end and I promised to share my experience with you. I learned many things, but today, I share three of the lessons I learned after being away for 30 days.

No Social Media for 30 Days – What I Learned

I learned that:

Time is Valuable

I learned that time is valuable. Going forward every block of time has value no exceptions.

A note to you: Time waits for no one. Use time wisely!

A Constant Presence is not Necessary

People unfollowing me was one of my concerns, but instead of losing followers, I gained a few.

The number of YouTube subscribers increased, despite not uploading any videos since May.

A note to you:  Your presence is not necessary to gain followers. Share informative, beneficial, and quality content and trust that everything works out fine.

I Must Do What I Like

Being active on lots of social media platforms is impossible. There are some platforms, I do not like.

Realizing that I like a few platforms, I focus on sharing content on those social media platforms instead.

Time spent on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube is far more rewarding than wasting time on platforms that I do not like and that do not give me a good return on my investment (time, energy, and money).

Sidenote:  There is only a certain amount of time I commit to these platforms; no exceptions. Creating a social and editorial calendar will help me stay on schedule.

A note to you:  Do what makes the most sense to you.

Final Words

During the time I spent away from social media, I got a lot of work done. Although I still have projects to complete, I now know what I must do.

Breaking away from the noise gave me clarity, focus, and direction.   It is what I needed and I am so glad I followed my first  mind.

A note to you:  Stay true to who you are and what you believe. It is the only way you will have peace with the decisions you make about your life.

Until next time…

Happy 4th of July!!
