We live in a time when we want everything done fast. We drive fast, we eat fast, we exercise fast, we shop fast, and we want fast weight loss. Weight loss takes time; don’t rush it.
Doing everything fast cannot be all that good for you, even though some people would have you believe that fast is the way to go.
Fast Weight Loss is a Gimmick
The inspiration for this post comes from a headline that captured my attention. The headline reads, “How to Lose Weight Fast (10 Pounds in 3 Days Safely Guaranteed).”
The creator of this headline is clever because he knows that people want to lose weight and he especially knows that if he uses the word, fast, that people will likely click on the headline to learn how they can lose 10 pounds in 3 days.
If you ever come across a headline or a commercial that tells you that you can lose a certain amount of pounds fast; don’t believe the hype.
Weight loss is not a fast process.
You don’t just drop 10 pounds in 3-days, especially if you are tremendously overweight. (I guess if you were doing a water fast, it’s possible)
The 10 pounds lost in 3-days is more than likely water weight.
It just won’t happen. How many months or years did it take you to become overweight? It sure didn’t take 3-days.
Weight Loss Takes Time Because:
1. You need to discover what works best for you.
Discovering what works best for you takes time. Skip the fad diets because fad diets make big promises, but deliver very little that is long-lasting.
Do your research, pay attention to how you feel after eating certain foods, and/or hire someone to help you discover what works best for you.
2. You need to correct any underlying symptoms/conditions.
Oftentimes you don’t know that you have a symptom/condition because you are not paying attention.
Symptoms get ignored most of the time because we are conditioned to believe that it is normal to have symptoms.
Oh, it’s just a part of getting older. Don’t believe that for one second.
You only notice symptoms when something is obviously wrong. Your body had to scream to get your attention.
That’s why I always say that you must always, always be in tuned with your body, because it speaks to you. Please listen!
Examples of underlying symptoms/conditions: digestion issues, stress issues, thyroid issues, insulin resistance, high cortisol levels, hormonal imbalances, etc.
3. It took time for you to store the fat (potential energy).
If you are obese (women >32% body fat, men >25% body fat) it will definitely take more than 10 days, 30 days, 90 days and even longer to burn off fat, lose inches and transform your body.
How many years did it take for you to accumulate the body fat? I’m guessing it probably took longer than 10 days, 30 days, or even 90 days and if you want to burn off the body fat and keep it off you have to put the time, effort and energy in to get the results you want.
Doing that which works for your body is best.
4. You have to make reasonable and doable lifestyle changes.
Fad diets are a short-term fix.
If you do not make the necessary lifestyle changes that give you long-lasting change, then you will always be stuck in the rut.
Making changes in your lifestyle and sticking with those changes is what gets you results that last a lifetime.
Final Words
Don’t get caught up in fast weight loss gimmicks, because nothing that comes fast actually lasts for very long.
Weight loss takes time; don’t rush it. Aren’t you worth it? Decide today to get to the root of why you have gained extra weight.
The reasons why you gained the extra weight is not easy to see.
Sometimes you must dig deeper and till the soil a bit to get to the root.
Digging deep is the key to unlocking the door to a successful weight loss journey which results in change that lasts a lifetime.
