Did you set goals or make resolutions for 2014? Have you stayed focused or have you lost your focus and returned to what you were doing before you set your goals?
If you have lost focus, what are you doing to get back the focus you need to reach your goals? Losing focus results in giving up, which is something you do not want to do; give up.
It is not easy setting goals and following through. Distractions come to throw you off your game plan, but you have to cancel out those distractions and get back in the game.
I set goals for 2014 and even though a few distractions has reared its ugly head, I am still moving forward and not letting those distractions cause me to give up. How do I move forward and not give up?
Here are five tips to help you stay focused in 2014:
-
Focus on your successes and not your failures. Focusing on failure is easy, but you cannot continue looking at your failures. Ask yourself, “What have I done successfully?” When you begin focusing on your successes, you discover that your failures are not as big as you thought they were.
-
Focus on you and not on what you see other people doing. Do not let what other people do cause you to lose focus of your goals. You are not other people and you have to do what is best for you. Focusing on you is not selfish. If you take your eyes off your goals, you will not reach the goals that you set for yourself.
-
Focus on being and doing better. So you ate the donut or the chocolate cake that you are trying so hard to avoid. Do not focus what you ate and let it cause you to give up completely. Learn what led to your eating those foods, move on and do better the next day.
-
Focus on the results you want. If your goal is having a flatter belly, then see yourself with a flatter belly. You look in the mirror now and see a big belly, but do not let that stop you from doing what you have to do. Remember you see the results, so just keep working towards what you see and eventually you will get it.
-
Focus on being all that you can be and giving it your all. Do not work on your goals half-heartedly, put your all into it. When you give it your all, you are bound to succeed, but you have to put in the time and effort.
Mitch Mitchell says
Overall I’d have to admit that I’ve had problems even starting to get focused for the most part. T
he one area where I’ve had better focus, if not complete dedication, is in my eating patterns. I’ve certainly been more conscious of what I eat and when I eat, but still have failings. I’m listening to my body more these days though, and that’s a good thing because I think if I keep paying attention to it I’ll end up being better across the board.
And I’ve yet to buy that package of mint Oreos, but it’s still on my mind. ๐
Evelyn Parham says
That’s a great accomplishment with your eating patterns. You will end up being better by listening to your body.
You’re doing something right to not give to the mint Oreos. ๐
Take care!
