It is tough to introduce lifestyle changes. Habits are hard to break. Nevertheless, if you want to be healthy, it is time to act now. Many people have tried, but a great number of them failed in their attempt to live a healthy lifestyle. All you have to do is follow the six essential steps below, and achieve your goals.

Step #1 – Know your priorities and be willing to commit

It is your priorities that influence your habits and behavior. Hence, it is important that you know your priorities and it should include living a healthy lifestyle. The only problem is that changing priorities can be hard. You can start by making a list of the most important things like work, family, health, etc. Once you’ve finished with this task, you can proceed with organizing your life.

Step #2 – The Belief System

Every individual’s belief system is influenced greatly by conscious choice and past experiences. By being aware of this system, you can make the right choices even if it means changing your self-image.

Step #3 – Create a strategy

There is no standard approach to make changes to your lifestyle. Firstly, you need to establish goals. From there, you can devise the ideal strategy that works for you.

Step #4 – Find the motivation or desire

If you are highly motivated, you will surely succeed. You can ask the support of the people around you like your friends and family. You also need to have an open mind, so you can introduce changes easily. The willingness on your part will help you face the obstacles and challenges. As long as you have the desire to live a healthy lifestyle, no one can stop you.

Step #5 – Visualize

Perhaps you’ve heard about the importance of visualization. You need to picture yourself living a healthy lifestyle. It is like attracting positive energy and feeling it as if you’ve already achieved your goals. This can also help you in getting rid of negative thoughts. Studies have proven the efficacy of visualization, so don’t forget to try this technique.

Step #6 – Decide now and commit

The final decision is still yours to make. No amount of encouragement from the people around you can convince you to make the change unless you’re willing to commit and do it yourself. You have to decide now if you want to become healthy and be able live a long life.

As mentioned earlier, you need to set your priorities. While you’re doing that, don’t forget to include getting a good night sleep. Sleep is like water and food. If are able to sleep adequately and peacefully, you will wake up feeling rejuvenated.

You need to prioritize sleeping to avoid certain health problems. Establish a routine every night and if you’re unsure, you can always consult your doctor especially if you have sleep problems.

Anyone can live a healthy lifestyle. The secret is to simply follow the steps above. If you can do this, you are sure to achieve your goals. With so many people suffering from different kinds of illnesses, getting rid of your bad habits is a good idea.

I also believe that all these steps are so important but I also think that there should be a support system. Sometimes its not enough just to know for yourself but by letting others now about your goals you are allowing the world to see the change you are about to make. Plus it helps if you start to stray from your original goals.

All of these steps are soooo important. I tried to pick out just one that I thought might be above the rest, but you definitely need ALL of them to be successful. Thanks for the reminder!

I would be interested to know more about #2 – Belief Systems. What are action steps one would take to shift this process? Any examples of how one becomes aware of the system and therefore changes it? Thanks!

Hey Kymberly, As The belief system is influenced by our own past experiences and our attitude. So for implying this system into ones life is possible only when one can have a positive attitude towards his life; So that one can be more confident and his belief system would grow accordingly and hence it will surely effect the lifestyle in a healthier way ! 🙂
