Did you make resolutions or set goals to make healthy lifestyle changes in 2019? I did, but I will share those in my next blog post.
The new year is an excellent time to make changes to your lifestyle to improve your health and well-being.
Making healthy lifestyle changes is hard, but don’t try to do everything all at once, take your time. Today, you learn seven healthy lifestyle changes to make in 2019.
Get Proper Rest
Getting adequate amounts of sleep is vital to being healthy. Sleeping is the time for the body to repair and rejuvenate the cells. Get at least 8 hours of sleep each night and make it a priority.
Go Outside and Bask in the Sun
The sun gives life and is an excellent mood enhancer. If you feel down, go outside and get some sunshine.
In this day and time, many of us don’t go out much but start going outside and basking in the sun because not only does it help with your mood, it also is a source of vitamin D.
Walk More
Walking is a great way to get movement in your day. Instead of trying to grab a parking space that’s closer to the store, park farther away so you can walk. Walking has fantastic benefits and might even help you drop a few pounds.
Embrace Food as Fuel
Don’t look at food as the enemy. Instead, embrace food as fuel for your body. Choose the food that is the highest quality if possible, but if you can’t get the highest quality, get close to it.
Labeling certain foods as bad can cause you to develop an unhealthy relationship with food, and we don’t want to do that. We want to have a healthy relationship with food and understand that food is fuel.
Express Yourself
Don’t keep your emotions muzzled, instead express yourself. If anything bothers you, don’t hold back how you feel because holding in our feelings does more harm than good.
You must let go of toxic, unhealthy emotions when they arise. Inhale and exhale those emotions; you’ll feel better.
Take Time Away from the Digital World
Unplug from the digital world sometimes. Constantly being wired affects the brain and it increases stress. Take time away from the screen.
A good habit to start is to set a time each night that you are not using any devices. It’s called winding down for the night and try not to lie in bed on your devices.
Do you know that using devices before bed makes it harder for you to fall asleep because your mind is still going? Make a habit of unplugging daily.
Focus, Focus, Focus
Stay focused on improving yourself in all areas of your life. Focus helps you with your overall health and well-being.
Your mind is the most powerful tool you have and when you focus you can do anything.

I am working on drinking more water. In addition to the water that I already drink, my plan is to drink between 12 and 16 ounces within the first hour that I’m awake. For me, I tend to slack in my water consumption during the winter. Thanks for sharing these lifestyle changes. Have a great week !
