The Power of a Smile and a Wave

January 28, 2016 by Evelyn Parham

evehanDo you know anyone who smiles and waves at everyone? I could say that I don’t know anyone who does that, but that would be a lie.

I know a little girl who carries the power of a smile and a wave with her everywhere she goes.  It’s truly an amazing sight to behold.

This little girl smiles and waves at almost everyone she sees.  She acknowledges everyone that comes in her path regardless of the race, appearance, or size of the person.

Most of the time the little girl doesn’t receive a smile and wave from those she gives smiles and waves.

And this doesn’t bother her at all because she smiles and waves at the next person that crosses her path.

Why Does the Little Girl Smile and Wave?

The reason the little girl smiles and waves is because she knows in her heart that a smile and a wave makes others feel good.

The little girl has received a smile and a wave from others and it made her feel good. She knows how it feels and she wants to give what she has felt back to others.

We All Should Smile and Wave More

I don’t know about you, but when someone acknowledges me with a simple smile and a wave it makes me feel good in my heart.

Smiles and waves are universal.  Everyone knows what a smile and a wave are and how it makes them feel.

If a smile and a wave make you feel good, you should pass your smile and wave along to others.

You never know what a person is going through. And when they see your smile and your wave it can lift their broken spirit and give them hope that they can make it.

Who is the Little Girl?

hannahsmilesThe little girl that I know who smiles and waves at almost everyone she sees is none other than my beloved daughter.

In the past, I have told her to stop smiling and waving at people because everyone will not smile and wave back.

I will no longer tell her to stop smiling and waving because she’s lifting spirits and making people feel good.

Final Words

This is not the type of post I usually write, but I wanted to share this with you because it was in my heart.

There are people in this world that you may come in contact with experiencing heartache, pain and a host of other things.

Your smile and wave could be exactly what a person needs to soothe an aching heart and lift a broken spirit.

Carry a smile and a wave everywhere you go because it touches hearts.

I have times when I smile a lot while walking around. Sometimes people get enthused by it; sometimes it probably scares them a little bit because they’re not sure what’s up. I go with what I feel at the time and, unless I’m in a bad mood, I hope others feed off the energy I’m sharing.

Never thought of it that way…”I hope others feed off the energy.” That’s what happens. If someone is frowning, angry or mad, then that energy will rub off on the next person. I’ve experienced that at times.

Thanks for sharing and chiming, Mitch

I love this post Evelyn. It really is so easy to put a smile on somebody else’s face.
I can’t tell you how sad it’s made me when, over the past three months, I’ve seen a friend or acquaintance out and about and they’ve deliberately avoided my gaze because I made them uncomfortable.
I cherish the people who’ve greeted me with a simple smile or nod. They made me feel noticed and not alone.

      Hi Tamara,
I am so glad that you enjoyed this post. Can I tell you something? While writing this post, my thoughts were on you and I honestly believe I wrote this post especially for you. 🙂

I think people are uncomfortable and fearful of the unknown; that’s why they deliberately avoided your gaze.

You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Thanks for stopping by and have a relaxing weekend!
