The One Reason Why You Must Have a Plan

January 15, 2018 by Evelyn Parham

plan for success

“You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.” – Zig Ziglar

Today, kicks of day one of the 30 Day Jump Start and our focus is planning.

The one reason why you must have a plan is to ensure that you have success.

A Lesson About Having a Plan

A few years ago, I had the privilege of speaking to a church youth group.

I had no idea what I would speak about, but it didn’t take long for me to choose a topic.

I chose my message based on an experience I had when I was a teenager.

My High School Experience in Planning

When I was a junior in high school, I had no plans or direction for my future.

I knew I wanted to do something with my life, but I thought my goals were out of reach because my family was dirt poor.

I vividly recall my godmother asking me what I was doing after high school graduation.

My godmother motivated and encouraged me to apply to a few colleges, and that’s what I did.

I am grateful for her persistence back then.

My Message to the Youth Group

Back to my message to the church youth group. I spoke to the youth about having a plan.

I told the youth group that planning is imperative.

Here’s a quote from my message to the youth, “If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.”

Making Lifestyle Changes

If you want to improve your health, fitness, digestion, eating habits, or weight, you have to make planning an integral part of your life.

Final Thoughts

The most important reason why you must have a plan is for the sake of success.

“All you need is a plan, the roadmap and the courage to press on to your destination.” – Earl Nightingale

Do you have a plan? If you don’t have one, start thinking about it today and then do you whatever it takes to make it happen.

I’m looking forward to receiving my PDFs. I’ve been constantly checking my email – like a child waiting on Christmas. I’m about to do some planning along with my morning meditations. How ironic – I’ve been meditating on Habakkuk 2:2 ( …write the vision, and make it plain upon upon tables…)
