Do you have the urge to crunch on something?
Don’t you reach for those potato chips! Instead reach for some flavorful nuts and seeds.
You can eat these zesty nuts and seeds in many ways.
Have them as a snack or sprinkle them on a salad.
If you are brave, you can even add them to a smoothie.
Spicy Almond/Cashew/Pumpkin Seed/Sunflower Seed Croutons
Soak raw almonds/seeds for 8-12 hours (overnight)
*Almonds should be soaked longer than seeds.
Place in a bowl and add a little olive oil. Just enough for coating. Add whatever flavors you like (Mexican, Italian, Asian, etc).
Here are the spices I like:
cumin, curry powder (red and yellow), ginger powder, garlic powder, onion powder, Celtic salt or Liquid Braggs Amino.
Add seasoning to suite your taste. If you want some sweetness, add a sweetener of your choice. Make sure your nuts/seeds are thoroughly coated.
Place your nuts and seeds on a Telflex sheet and dehydrate at 105 degrees until crunchy and crispy. This may take 2 days.
Once your croutons are ready, store them in a jar. They will keep for a long time, if you don’t eat them first. 🙂
