Stress is the trash of modern life – we all generate it but if you don’t dispose of it properly, it will pile up and overtake your life.” ~ Terri Guillemets
Relaxation is essential for stress management, and it is not the kind of relaxation that we do when we vacation.
Relaxation is more than just kicking back and not doing anything. It is about taking time for yourself and investing in yourself, in other words, self-care.
We should be relaxing in some way every day.
Ways to Relax Every Day
We live in a fast-paced world, and we move through life wondering where the time went.
Some of us say, “I don’t know where the time went.” That is how fast things are moving these days.
One of the most important actions that we are not doing in life is taking the time to relax because we believe we have to do everything as quick as possible.
There is more to relaxation than taking a vacation or vegging out. Relaxation is something we should incorporate into our daily lives and here is how:
#1 Have a morning ritual
I have been rising at 6:00 AM since April 1st and one of my morning rituals, which is the first thing I do is to sit quietly for a few minutes.
It brings a sense of calm and relaxation which helps me get centered and ready for the day. It does not matter what you do upon rising, do something that helps relax your mind, body, and spirit.
#2 Eat meals in a pleasant atmosphere
Focus your mind on enjoying the food, and not on negative things or news of the day. Do not eat meals when you are upset.
Being in an atmosphere that is peaceful and calm helps set the mood for relaxation. As you set the mood for relaxation in a pleasant atmosphere, you help your body to digest your food efficiently.
Breathing and eating speed is more relaxed when your atmosphere is pleasant and aids in better digestion.
Reduce the stress levels in your life through relaxation techniques like meditation, deep breathing, and exercise. You’ll look and feel way better for it.” ~ Suzanne Somers
#3 Power down your brain
We are inundated with tons of information daily, and the brain is always going, and going, and going. Some of us never actively power down our mind. What does this mean?
It means that the brain never has time to relax, well only while we are sleeping, but that is not what I mean.
Take time to turn off the television, unplug from technology, put the smartphone down, and be present.
Allow your mind to rest from the many stimuli that bombard it every day. Powering down your brain helps with relaxation.
Final Words
There are many ways to relax for stress management; I just named a few.
Relaxation is an essential key to unwinding and managing stress, and it can be done in every area of our lives. After all, we are more than just a body; we are a mind and spirit too.
Until next time.
