The McDougall Diet Update – Week 5 (August 29 – September 4, 2013)

September 7, 2013 by Evelyn Parham

rolled-oatsHappy Saturday Everyone!

This is an update on how the McDougall Diet is going.  I am hanging in here and have no problems sticking with this way of eating.

This week I did a some intermittent fasting due to spiritual reasons.  I usually do some fasting, but since following the McDougall Diet, I have not fasted like I usually do.

Oatmeal is a Staple

I eat oatmeal almost every morning and I am not bored with eating it.  I usually add fruit and nuts or seeds to the cereal and I am good.

I have not had the desire to add Agave Nectar to my cereal, because the fruit adds the right sweetness.

I cannot believe that I eat oatmeal almost every day.  I should be bored out of my mind, but is not the case.  It is filling and stays with me for a long time.  I have to have my oatmeal.

Future Updates

I was able to stick with the McDougall Diet for 21-days and now know that I can stick with it for the long haul.

I have not lost any weight nor have I gained any weight.  I am beginning to think that if I lose weight, it will not be that much, which is fine with me.

This is my final weekly post update.  All future updates will be posted monthly.  If you have any questions let me know.

Final Words

I have tried many ways of eating a plant-based diet, but the McDougall Diet is the one that works best for me.

I have no problems sticking with this diet and I do not feel restricted.  I do not have to avoid potatoes and rice, which are the  foods that I grew up eating anyway.  I feel right at home when I eat these foods.

I no longer feel bound or restricted in any way.  I am free!

Until next time…

Congratulations, Evelyn, on sticking with your diet! And, thanks for sharing the updates. Although oatmeal is very nutritious, and I’ve learned to enjoy it – I still prefer Cream of Wheat. I don’t eat it much anymore because I’m not so sure if it has a lot of nutritional value. It does claim a high iron content, but I think the iron is enriched. If you know of any nutritional value of Cream of Wheat, please share it. It is one of those hot breakfast cereals that I hardly ever hear anything about. It used to be very popular when I was a child.

      Hey Trinity,

Thanks for stopping by and I hope all is going well with you?

You know, when I come to think about it, I would rather eat Cream of Wheat myself. I used to enjoy it as a child myself. I’ll check into it and let you know.

I appreciate you following my updates and for you support.

      Evelyn
