A Story About a Pull-Up Bar and Fitness

April 25, 2016 by Evelyn Parham

pull-up-barHave you ever felt like giving up before giving the task a really good try?

I am sure some of you have felt like this at some point in your life.

Today I share with a story about the pull-up bar and fitness.

The Pull-Up Bar

I bought a pull-up bar a month ago and I envisioned myself doing pull-ups like a boss.

This past weekend I assembled the pull-up bar and tried crushing out some pull-ups.

Well, crushing out some pull-ups did not happen because I could only do one pull-up.

After realizing that I could only do one pull-up, I wanted to tuck the pull-up bar away and never try it again.

I shared the photo of the pull-up bar on Instagram and Twitter. Tamara of FitKnitChick sent me a reply tweet and here is what Tamara said:

Okay I tried using this today for the first time. I could only do ONE pull-up. ? Lots of work to… https://t.co/gBHVMgJnaH

First one, then two. Just keep working on them ?? https://t.co/GImodUDmEP

@evelynparham I’m working on mine too. Consistency is key!

You see I wanted to give up on doing pull-ups and use the pull-up bar for sit-ups and dips, but after getting a tip from Tamara, I will give it a good solid try.

Strength Takes Time

This post is slanted toward fitness because I know some of you are into fitness, plus from time to time I write about fitness and fitness is very important.

Start off small, put in the time and effort it takes for you to reach your goal. Strength, endurance, and muscles are not made overnight.

You have to stick with your goal and do a little every day for strength, endurance, and muscle definition to manifest.

Final Words

If you can see yourself having more strength, endurance, and muscle, then you will do it.

You not only have to see it and believe it, but you must do what it takes.

Do you think I will give up on pull-ups? Pull-ups will be a tremendous fitness challenge, but I am up for the challenge because I want the results.

How about you? Will you hang in there or will you give up before trying?

Tamara is the boss, that’s for sure. Also, I’m super strong, but pull-ups are still next to impossible for me. So I know the feeling. Maybe I should go try to do 1 1/2. Last time I tried, I got to one.

      Hi Alexandra!

Yes, she is! Thanks for sharing your experience with pull-ups. I’m using the band now and I can almost do three. 🙂

I love this! I’m happy I was able to encourage you the way your posts always encourage me!
I’m working on band-assisted pull-ups right now. Slowly wanting to get to being able to do 5 unassisted ones! Let’s keep supporting each other 🙂

      Hi Tamara!
How are you? I’m up to 1 1/2 pull-ups, but I think I need to start with band-assisted pull-ups. I’m glad you mentioned the band.

      Most definitely! 🙂

      Have a good week!
