Before There Is Success, There Must Be Preparation

March 2, 2012 by Evelyn Parham

How many of you have started something only to find yourself not completing the task? Let me raise my hand, because this has happened to me many times.

I ask myself, why didn’t I follow through on this and why did I fail? The only logical explanation I have, is that I failed because of the lack of preparation.

Whatever it is that you want to do, be it, make healthy life style changes, become a vegetarian, create a blog, you must never fail to prepare.

Prepare For Success

“By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail.” – Benjamin Franklin

Anything you want to do in your life takes preparation.  There has not been many things that I have not prepared for in my life, especially when I wanted success. If there is no preparation, then your chances of succeeding is slim to none.

How Do I Prepare?

Start by focusing on what it is you want to do. Then you begin visualizing and planning how you will reach your goal. You may have to do the following:

  • Prepare your mind (pray, plan, visualize, meditate, etc.)
  • Read books on the topic
  • Learn as much as you can about the topic
  • Talk to people who have succeeded
  • Learn from others
  • Surround yourself with like-minded people
  • Take classes.

Whatever it takes for success, know that you must always prepare. You cannot avoid preparation, it is a must, if you want to reach your goals.

The only way you can have success is that you have a winning attitude.  Don’t think about failure, because failing is not an option.  If you prepare, you will succeed.

Remember, preparation leads to dedication, so there is no room for failure. Take one step at a time, don’t do everything at once.

Overwhelm can sometimes lead to failure. Prepare yourself in such a way that you do not get overwhelmed, that way you will not fail.

You are what you think. If you think success, then you will be a success. First you must get your mind right. Remember, preparation is the key!!

“Four steps to achievement: Plan prayerfully. Proceed positively. Pursue persistently.” – William Arthur Ward

Discussion time: Do you have a goal?  What are you doing to make sure that you meet success?

All this is very true. I find it helps to physically write out a plan too, putting things in writing somehow helps a lot!

    Evelyn,

While success means different to different people. Whichever it is, having right attitude and working towards it makes it success. Many of us have to try it more than once to get it right. 🙂

      Hey Preeti,

I agree! I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve done things until I got it right. It all boils down to determination and how bad you want to succeed in whatever it is you want.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    Great post!
I can relate to this because I recently failed a 7 day juice fast (I lasted 3) because I didn’t properly prepare.
It wasn’t all in vain though because I learned enough to succeed next time (if I decide to do it again lol).

      Hey Monique!

Celebrate the 3 days that you were successful. 😉

That’s great that you learned from your experience. You’ll do it again, when you are ready.

Take care and have a great weekend!
