Six Reasons to Focus on Your Why, Not Your Problem

June 19, 2018 by Evelyn Parham

know why

Are you frustrated because you are not getting the results you want? I know the feeling because I am currently working on a few things to improve myself and it is a slow go.

Although I want to quit, I know giving up is not an option. I discovered that the more I focus on the problem I am trying to solve, the less progress I make. Here are six reasons to focus on your why and not your problem.

Start with Your Why

Do you realize that knowing why you want to do something motivates you to keep working hard?

When we take the focus off of why it is easy for distractions to creep in, we get side-tracked.

The first thing we should do is know why we want to lose weight, make dietary changes, get fit, do self-care rituals, or be more positive.

Once we know why we are doing what we want to do, then it is always in the forefront of the mind

What we perceive as failure sometimes causes us to look more at the problem, which causes us to forget why we started in the first place.

Reasons to Focus on Your Why

Reason #1

Focusing on your why helps you with making progress. If you know why you are working out or making changes with your diet, then you are likely to stick with your program and not waver.

Reason #2

Knowing the why helps keep mental distractions at bay.

It is easy to feel bad because Susie is making tremendous progress, while we don’t feel like we’ve made it to second base. But don’t let the distraction of another person’s success cause you to focus on your problem. Focus on your why, and you’ll be fine.

Reason #3

Staying focused on why and not the problem helps you stay motivated.

When you know why you want to lose weight, you don’t mind cutting back on the sweets or being more physically active because you are motivated to see results. Besides, you feel great in the process too.

Reason #4

Focusing on your problem robs you of believing in yourself.

When you truly understand the benefits of making changes, and you see results, it creates a strong sense of believing in yourself. You realize that you can do this, so you keep going.

Reason #5

If you can see success, then you will achieve success.

Don’t worry about what you don’t see immediately happening in your life. As long as you can envision reaching your goals, you won’t have the time to focus on the problem. See it and believe it; success is yours.

Reason #6

Knowing your why won’t let you quit. Quitting is easy, your why is the power that keeps you going. Keep your mind off the problem especially if you want to succeed.

Stay focused on why you started; it gives you the strength and the will to journey on, even when you don’t think you can.

Until next time,

Take care of You, and OWN IT!
