It is Okay to Tweak Your Goals to Reach Your Goals

January 21, 2016 by Evelyn Parham

So happy I did it! My body said, “YES”

I did something a little out of the ordinary yesterday (January 20th), but after doing it, I felt motivated and pumped up to get my workout done.

A question came to mind, “How bad do you want to get fit?” And guess what I did?

Let me tell you this first before I get into what I did to get motivated and fired up to work out.

Not Working Out After 3:00 PM

My goal is to get my workouts done before 3 PM, but sometimes it is hard to meet that goal.

If it is 4 PM I will not workout, because I want to stick with the goal I set.

Well, on this certain day it was after 4 PM and I knew I needed to workout.  What is a woman to do?  Get your workout in and make it worth your time.

I looked at myself in the mirror and said, “Evelyn you can do this and you have to do this regardless of the time.  Your body will thank you later, but now you have to get moving.”

Motivation comes from within; each of us has it.

Here’s what I did that was out of the ordinary.

I scooped up my camera phone started snapping photos of me making mean, ugly faces.

I got pumped up and guess what happened?  I exercised even though it was a little after 4 PM.

It only took me 30 minutes to work out and my body appreciated every minute.

I uploaded the mean, ugly faced photo to Instagram.  Most of the photos I upload to Instagram are for inspirational purposes, but this picture was for me.

I know that each time I see the photo; determination to get fit is in my eyes.

It is Okay to Tweak your Goals

If I had stuck with the goal of not exercising after 3 PM, I would have eventually ended up only exercising 2-3 times a week. I am not having that.

Sometimes you have to tweak your goals toreach your goals. I have fitness goals that I have to reach and I must do whatever it takes.

Be willing to bend a little because if you are not willing to bend you will break.  Breaking here means that you will not reach your goals because you do not want to tweak your goals.  You do not want to ever get to this point.

If I cannot do it this way, then I will not do it at all.

Final Words

The purpose of this post is to inspire you to stick with your biggest goal.  Do what you must to reach that goal.

Sometimes you need to re-evaluate and re-adjust, but whatever you do, do not quit because of your unwillingness to bend a little.

Stay focused and keep your eyes on your prize.
