We are a few weeks in the new year and my guess is that many of you are planning for successful year. You are probably so busy planning your success strategies that you failed to include yourself in the plan. A good friend once said to me, “Don’t work seven days a week, always take time out for yourself.” All work and no play is not a good thing for anyone.
Taking time out for yourself is rejuvenating, healing, and it helps relieve stress.
I home school my daughter (the most challenging thing I’ve ever done in my life), currently training to become a certified eating psychology coach, blogger, sticking with a fitness program, and in the planning stages of starting my coaching business. This is only a little of what I have going on in my life. I am feeling overwhelmed just thinking about everything, but if I can only remember to take time out for myself, everything will be just fine.
No matter what you have going on in your life you have to take time out to care for yourself. We tend to neglect ourselves because we believe that we have to get things done, now. Women are notorious for putting themselves last, because by nature we are nurturers. I challenge you (men and women) to take time out for yourself this year.
Today, I give you tips on how you can take time out for yourself while achieving your goals in 2015.
Take time out:
- for quiet time in your life
- to breathe (do some deep breathing)
- to relax
- to embrace what is
- to read that book you haven’t had the time to read
- to pamper yourself
- to let someone pamper you (hair cut, hair color, facial, massage, manicure, pedicure)
- to enjoy being by yourself
- to have your favorite food (even if it is a guilty pleasure)
- to do your favorite movement
- to unplug from all things digital for at least 24 hours
- for a peaceful and quiet walk
- for nature
- to just be.
Final Words
Taking time out for yourself is easier said than done, but you have to make yourself your number one priority. Does that seem a bit selfish? Yes, it does, but you cannot go another day putting yourself on the back burner. It is time that you put the spark back in your light.
Taking time out for yourself prepares you for any stress ball that life throws your way. When stress rears its head, you will automatically know how to react because, you’ve made it a habit of taking time out for yourself.
Always take time for yourself. You are so worth it!
