Inexpensive Ways to Get Fit

June 28, 2012 by Evelyn Parham

couple-exercisingI would love to join a gym or better yet get hire a personal trainer, but my budget  does not allow for that.  I have to find other ways to get fit.

Maybe one day, I will be at the gym and have a personal trainer, but now, I have to work with what I have.

I know I am not the only one in this situation. I thought it would be a good idea, to share with you some ways you can get fit without spending a lot of money.

The truth be told, joining a gym and hiring a personal trainer is a good thing, but it is not necessary for you to get fit.

You can get fit right in the comfort of your home and not to mention the great outdoors.

Here are some ways you can get fit without going to the gym or hiring a personal trainer:

  •  Walking
  • Jogging/Running
  • Abdominal Exercises
  • Use Exercise Videos
  • Resistance Training/Strength Training
  • Lifting Dumbbells
  • Use Resistance Bands
  • If you own a Rebounder (mini-trampoline), use it.

Final Words

These are just a few of the many ways you can get fit without spending a lot of money.

You do not need to join a gym or hire a personal trainer to get fit, nice, but not necessary.

All you have to do is give it a try, have strong determination and the desire to succeed.

You have no excuses!

Nice Article. To get fit there is not much need to join the gym. We can do it in an inexpensive way. There is no need to spend a lot of money.

Good article I like going to the gym but stats show that only 12% of the population go to the gym 3 or more times a week. Cost and time is the two main reasons given so your article shows you can get fitter with little cost and work it into your daily lifestyle

    Hi Evelyn
I totally agree, you really don’t need to spend any money on getting fit. I have done the gym thing and spent many hundreds of dollars on wasted memberships! In the “olden” days you used to be able to just join the aerobics which I loved but now you have to have a full membership and pay top dollar or pay top dollar to go to individual aerobic sessions. I did go to a group PT session for quite a long time and that was fun and worth it but when my partner was made redundant I couldn’t afford it anymore.

Now I walk during my lunch hour with friends from work and also in the evening with my partner. I also do a few extra exercises from the http://www.bodyandsoul.com.au/ Body and Soul site, they have a huge collection of exercise plans for aerobics, and exercises for toning tummies, arms, butt etc.

I have to say I do like DVDs as well and have a very small collection because they are great to do when it is too wet to walk or you want to do something a bit different.

    Great article Evelyn,
I think that anyone can get fit if they want to. My favourite ways are walking and jogging. It’s so easy to just spend an hour or half an hour a day walking around!

      Hey Mariella!

Exactly! No excuses for not getting fit. Walking and jogging are goodies.
