Starting a new diet is exciting, but it is easy to get caught up in numbers. Today, I present you with three reasons to stop obsessing over calories, macronutrients, and pounds.
My New Diet
Some of you know that I follow a low-carbohydrate high-fat diet, slanting towards a ketogenic way of eating. I became the queen of numbers. I wrote everything in a notebook, and I weighed myself every morning.
As time passed, I wrote less. The less time I spent counting numbers, the lighter, I felt in my mind, body, and spirit. The day I stopped keeping up with numbers is the day I decided not to allow it (numbers) to define me.

Reasons to Stop Obsessing Over Calories, Macronutrients, and Pounds
Here’s what happens when you focus too much on numbers:
1. You create unnecessary stress in your body. The stress response does a lot of nasty things, and it decreases your ability to lose weight.
Loosening up with counting, helps you relax, and relaxation helps you with managing stress.
2. You are hard on yourself. Not getting the scale reading you want is disheartening. You keep manipulating your macronutrients; hoping a change and a smile.
Loosening up with yourself, helps you value numbers less and value yourself more.
3. You disconnect from your body’s wisdom. Being consumed with external factors drowns out the messages your body sends you.
Listening to your body’s wisdom, helps you be aware of what you need.
There is nothing wrong with tracking numbers, but stop obsessing over counting calories, macronutrients, and pounds. Instead of counting, get in tune with your body.
Let go, enjoy the process, and take hold of your freedom; today!
